Last night, I had the pleasure of attending another fantastic session by the Model's Workshop group -with Monica & Herra & Ida and all the usual suspects. All of my friends were there and the room was packed as usual!
This session was about 'how to prepare for casting calls' (aye) and it ran for an hour and a half, LOADED with tips and revelations about all the things we should have done differently! (double aye:(
Few quick points that stuck to mind:
1) Unless you are directed to dress in a specific manner for a casting, you need to wear LOW prims -which would rezz faster and require less adjustment.. Something like a pair of jeans would be perfect. They're hassle-free and they also show off and accentuate your shape. Avoid convoluted clothing like heavy prim skirts and stuff that hides your shape in general.
2) Put on your best skin and your best hair. Avoid noob-quality skins, blings, and take it easy on the face lamps.. As Herra put it "you don't want to be landing airplanes with it"
3) Act professional, lose the diva style and avoid complaints & grumblings (Oh man???!!!)
What else?
Highlights of the evening: Ida rezzed her height-measuring-box-gadget-thingie and we all got to click on it to find out our true height in meters & in inches (a truly cosmopolitan gadget)
I discovered I am a midget, at 6' 8"... Time to do some serious stretching.
The bigger highlight of the evening was the presence of Christie Romano (shown in pic, above -You can't miss him, he's the ONLY guy in the bunch): Christie is a renowned skin & shape consultant on SL and was kind enough to be the guest speaker in last night's session. No, he does not mince words really (shock horror) but we're all the better for it.
If anyone is interested in joining this group, attending the next workshop or volunteering as a topic-leader, blog-contributor, etc- Kindly contact Monica Balut for details.
